TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3, NIV).
SOMETHING TO PONDER
Have you ever had an invisible wound? One that kills your heart, but no one can see from the outside? Like a paper cut of the soul, it deeply stings to the core.
Unlike physical wounds, invisible wounds typically come from hidden hurts. For example, maybe you’re facing unspoken rejection or quiet disappointment. You don’t have a bloody arm or broken leg to show for it, but that doesn’t make the pain any less severe. Or maybe, you’re facing the sad reality of lingering grief. The funeral is over, and everyone seems to be moving on, but you’re still standing still.
Sadly, when most of us experience these kinds of wounds, we tend to hide. There’s no reason to rush to the hospital or ER, so why should we be worried, right? But on the inside, we’re broken and hurting. We hide because we don’t want to burden others. We don’t have the words. We don’t think it’s “bad enough” to deserve care. The reality is God cares about all wounds, hidden or not.
In Psalm 147:3, we read that Jesus heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He doesn’t just heal, an ongoing action, but binds up—He offers intentional, tender, and compassionate care. Any fracture we experience is something God desires to heal.
Friends, God isn’t rushed or dismissive with our pain. No, He’s gentle and attentive, desiring to sit with us in the sorrow. Today, you and I can bring our unnamed pain into the light of God’s presence. But even when we do hide, God still sees. He doesn’t turn away. He’s here, and He cares.
Jesus came for those whose hearts would be broken, so there’s no need to hide yours. He desires to help you heal if you’ll come to Him openly and honestly. Because He died for those who know their need for Him, not those who think they have it all together without Him.
“Jesus heard what these people were saying. He said to them, ‘People who are well do not need a doctor. It is people who are ill that need a doctor. Some people think that they always obey God. I did not come to help people like that. Some people know that they have done wrong things. I am asking those people to come to me for help” (Mark 2:17, EASY).
