Amber Ginter

Hi! I’m Amber,

  • Your Big Sis
  • Mental Health Advocate
  • & Friend

I’m a teacher-turned-author, freelance writer, and Author Conservatory student. I love Jesus, my husband Ben, and granola. Growing up, I looked for faith and mental health resources, but found none

Today, I offer hope for Christians struggling with mental illness that goes beyond simply reading your Bible and praying more. Because you can love Jesus and still suffer from anxiety.

A Very Warm Welcome, it’s Nice to Meet You!

As a child, I realized mental illness was destroying my family. Over the next decade of my teens and early twenties, I became a victim of verbal abuse and had my life threatened on multiple occasions—all from family members.

In college, I realized I needed help and turned to my church. But all they did was encourage me to “give your worries to God,” and “pray more.” And that’s where the help ended.

Over time, these spiritual prescriptions caused self-doubtconfusiondepression, and even more anxiety. When I started therapy, I realized for the first time I wasn’t alone. Together with my counselor, we went beyond simple answers to find true hope and healing. I learned that mental health even affects Christians.

Today, I offer hope for young Christians struggling with mental illness that goes beyond pat Band-aids, Christian cliches, and painful prescriptions. God’s people need real answers; not simple ones.
