Country Music Superstar Carrie Underwood Unexpectedly Performs at Tennessee Church

In 2005, country superstar Carrie Underwood took home the crown of season 4’s hit television series, American Idol. Since that day, she’s gone on to produce dozens of songs and albums, plus share her faith more openly.

This past Sunday, Underwood attended worship at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee, and surprised congregants by stepping on stage with the choir. Singing “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “What A Beautiful Name,” she openly shared how much her faith means to her:

“I know how difficult it is to come into the entertainment industry and bring your faith with you,” she told them after they were done singing. “It is a brave thing to do because there are a lot of outside forces that are going to tell you not to do that. I want to tell you that I’m proud of you guys” (Movie Guide).

Today, as one of the judges on American Idol, Underwood gives Christian singers the same advice. “You don’t have to…sell your soul to make it in the entertainment industry. You are going to have to stand strong in your faith and remember who got you here, because it wasn’t you,” said Underwood.
