Many individuals dream of seeing their name in lights, moving to Hollywood, and becoming famous. When they see what it costs them, however, they often become less interested or discouraged. As Christians, this journey seems all the more impossible in a world of secular views, inappropriate songs, and explicit lyrics.

According to American Idol Judge and Christian, Carrie Underwood, however, it is possible to make a career in the industry while remaining true in the faith.

As the 2005 winner of “American Idol,” Underwood has risen to fame as one of the most successful country music stars. Known for her top hits, “Jesus Take the Wheel,” “Before He Cheats,” and “Blown Away,” she’s recognized for her dynamic range, creative lyrics, and authentic vulnerability. She’s also been identified as a star who’s never once compromised her Christian faith.

Over two decades after her win on American Idol, Underwood returned to the show as a judge, hoping to help shape the next generation. In what the Christian Post calls “the most overtly faith-filled episodes” to date, Underwood added her mission: [I want these individuals to know] “You don’t have to … sell your soul to make it in the entertainment industry. [But,] You are going to have to stand strong in your faith and remember who got you here, because it wasn’t you.”
