When kids return from college, parents typically can’t wait to welcome them home. This was the case for American Singer-Songwriter Natalie Grant as she welcomed her daughter, Bella, home from college this past week. What started as a typical unboxing, however, quickly led to a serious and detrimental fall.
After packing boxes and loading and unloading the car, the 54-year-old singer decided to go out to dinner with her family. As they walked, however, Grant tripped on the sidewalk and “took a hard fall.” What she thought was a simple accident, however, quickly escalated.
Initially, Grant believed she had a broken rib. By the time she got to the hospital, however, she realized the fall had caused a bleeding kidney and a blood clot in her bladder that required immediate emergency surgery.
“What in the world?! Who trips and falls on a sidewalk and injures a couple organs?!” said Grant.
Thankful for a quick and effective surgery, Grant was moved by the prayers of her fans and those taking care of her at the hospital. “Hug your people. Slow down. And maybe … watch where you’re walking,” laughed Grant.
