Every year, the National Prayer Breakfast takes place to join together leaders, friends, and political parties for one purpose: prayer. On February 5th, 2026, tensions might be raised by recent events, but the emphasis on talking to God is the same, if not all the more requested.

What began in 1953 under the direction of President Dwight Eisenhower has quickly become a growing and spreading event to collectively pray for our nation. These prayers include protection for our President, and other nations and spiritual leaders across the world. While pieces of this event are televised, numerous states across the U.S. also host their own days of prayer throughout the year. According to the npbf, all religions are welcome to embody the spirit and love of reconciliation that Jesus Christ (of Nazareth) displayed over 2,000 years ago.

For the 2026 event, honorary co-chairs Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Senator Roger Marshall led the way. Typically held in Washington, D.C. on the first Thursday in February, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee gave the keynote address for this year’s encouragement. He was joined by President Trump, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and thousands of elected officials, faith leaders, and guests from across the nation.
