Many teens and young adults spend their time investing in TikTok trends and scrolling on Google. But a recent update from TruPlay, a Christian digital media company that creates educational biblical video games and content, has us worried that more than intellectual harm is at play.

In a lengthy letter to Jim Jordan, House Judiciary Committee Chair Rep, TruPlay Games reported that Google has rejected their advertisements since 2023 due to “Religious belief in personalized advertising.” While TruPlay expresses concern with this discrimination, American Center for Law and Justice, ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow told Christian Post that TruPlay’s ads don’t target audiences based on religious belief: “They advertise Christian gaming content to general audiences interested in family entertainment, children’s education, and mobile gaming.”

Beyond Google, TruPlay expressed concern that even TikTok refuses to allow them to run ads, especially those including cartoon images of Jesus. “Simply having a picture of Jesus was enough to ban advertisements,” said the team. After numerous rejections, TikTok even escalated its enforcement by permanently suspending TruPlay’s advertising account, due to ‘repeated violations’ of its advertising policies.

For Christians, the suppression of Christian content on various social media platforms has been alarming. Among the top rejected advertisements were:

“Turn Game Time Into God Time”

“Christian Games for Kids”

“Safe Bible Games for Kids”.
